Military Hospital in Kabul under attack by five gunmen

One attacker dressed up as a doctor, along with five gunmen attacked a hospital near the in Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul, today.

According to Major Gen. Dawlat Waziri, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense the attack took place at Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital. At first the attackers detonated a bomb, thereafter they opened fired. The then entered the hospital carrying weapons and hand grenades.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense said:

“Now the attackers are on the third and fourth story of the hospital’s main building, and our commandos are inside and the attackers are surrounded.”

“We don’t know the number of casualties yet.” He said the attackers were wearing uniforms.

Zahir Ziya, a doctor at the hospital, says he fears the casualties are high, with most of them Afghan soldiers.
