Carrie Fisher: Star Wars’ Princess Leia dies at 60

Carrie Fisher, the actress famously known for her role as in the franchise, dies at the age of 60, four days after she suffered a cardiac arrest on a flight.

Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd said her mother passed away on Tuesday morning after being taken ill travelling from to Los Angeles.

Fisher’s mother, the veteran Hollywood star Debbie Reynolds wrote on Facebook, “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carrie’s Mother.”

Carrie Fisher was the ex-wife of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and the writer of four novel. She was also in a longterm relationship with Bryan Lourd, with whom she had her only child, Billie Lourd.
