Nepal-China military drills kick start amid of India’s tensive relations with the two countries
According to the officials, the drills are focused on counter-terrorism and is dubbed as “Sargarmatha Friendship 2017”, referring to the mount Everest in Nepalese language.
The drills are taking place at a time when relations between India and Nepal are very tense and China-India relations are also facing rivalry as both the countries are competing for supremacy in the region. The preparation of the drills were supervised by China’s Defence Minister Chang Wanquan himself, who visited Khathmandu last month. It was also the first visit by a Chinese defense Minister in 15 years.
