Avalanche kills 50 in Nuristan province of Afghanistan
Around 50 people have been killed as their homes buried under avalanche in a village in the eastern Afghanistan.
The massive avalanche fell in Barge Matal district of Nuristan, Afghanistan’s province bordered with Pakistan.
According to the reports by Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), “50 bodies” have so far been recovered.
The spokesman of ANDMA added that the raging avalanches had destroyed over 150 homes and heavily damaged 50 others in different provinces. The avalanches, triggered by days of heavy snowfalls, also claimed the lives of some 550 livestock, and destroyed over 1,000 hectares of farmland.
