Afghanistan announces to boost proportion of women in army to 10 percent

As Afghanistan’s first woman pilot sought asylum in the US, after sparking insecurity for herself in her own country, Afghanistan has now announced to recruit more women into its army.
The deputy ministry spokesman Mohammad Radmanesh told the press that they want to boost the number of female soldiers in their forces. He added that they want to boost the proportion of women in the army to 10 percent.
“We are aiming to raise this percentage to 10 percent.”
“At this stage, we have 1,575 Afghan women in our army ranks, it is mere three to four percent which is nothing,” Radmanesh said.
