Russia’s military plane crashed in Black sea
Rescue teams confirmed the crash site of the missing Tu-154 aircraft near the Sochi coast.
“The body of a person killed as a result the crash of the Russian defence ministry’s Tu-154 was found six kilometres off the coast of Sochi,” said the defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
“The body was taken on board of a rescue ship.”
The debris of the crashed plane bound for Syria was found at the crash site by the rescue teams, 1.5 kilometres off the coast of Sochi at a depth of 50 to 70 metres.
According to the defence ministry, there were 83 passengers and 8 crew members on board, and the search and rescue groups had been dispatched to locate the missing Tu-154.
Those on board included artists going to celebrate an upcoming New Year with the Russian servicemen, at the Hmeimin air base in Syria.
